Manchester City Book FA Cup Semi-Final Berth with Newcastle Triumph
Bernardo Silva Shines with Brace
Impressive Victory Sets Up Semi-Final Clash
Manchester City secured their place in the FA Cup semi-finals with an impressive 2-0 victory over Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium. Bernardo Silva led the charge for the Citizens, scoring both goals in the first half to hand Pep Guardiola's side a comfortable victory.
The game kicked off at a frenetic pace, with both teams looking to assert their dominance. City controlled the majority of possession, but Newcastle put up a stiff resistance, defending resolutely and looking dangerous on the counterattack.
The deadlock was broken in the 19th minute when Bernardo Silva found the back of the net with a clinical finish. The Portuguese midfielder doubled his tally just minutes later with another well-taken goal, leaving Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope rooted to the spot.
Despite trailing by two, Newcastle refused to give up and pushed forward in search of a way back into the match. However, City's defense held firm, with Ruben Dias and Aymeric Laporte putting in commanding performances at the heart of the backline.
The visitors' hopes of a comeback were dealt a further blow when Joelinton was sent off for a reckless challenge on Rodri in the second half. With Newcastle down to 10 men, City seized control of the game and saw out the remaining minutes with ease.
Manchester City will now face either Southampton or Luton Town in the FA Cup semi-finals, while Newcastle United will turn their attention back to the Premier League, where they are battling for a top-four finish.
