Iga Swiatek Successfully Defends Her Porsche Tennis Grand Prix Title

The World No. 1 Claims Her Second Consecutive Stuttgart Crown

Stuttgart, Germany

Iga Swiatek has successfully defended her Porsche Tennis Grand Prix title by winning for a second time at the tournament. The world No. 1 defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the final 6-2, 6-2 to claim her fifth WTA title of the season.

Swiatek has now won 28 consecutive matches, the longest winning streak on the WTA Tour since Serena Williams won 34 in a row in 2013. The 21-year-old Pole is also the first player to win the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in consecutive years since Justine Henin in 2007 and 2008.

Swiatek has been in imperious form all week in Stuttgart, dropping just one set en route to the title. She was particularly dominant in the final, breaking Sabalenka's serve five times and hitting 28 winners to just 10 unforced errors.

The victory is Swiatek's second of the year on clay, following her triumph at the Qatar Open in February. She is now the clear favorite to win the French Open later this month, where she will be aiming to defend her title from last year.
